There are so many places to consider in the UK when it comes to choosing where to stay, but I have to say that South West England has to rank highly as one of my favourites, even as a resident and I will tell you why that is.
It is the largest region in the UK and is full to the brim of spectacular scenery, fabulous food, lots of folklore, culture and history. Whatever you are interested in South West England is worth visiting!

What counties make up South West England?
The counties that make up the South West England are: Bristol (which is both a city and a county), Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire and it covers an area of 23,800km
Whether you are looking to go away for a week or two on holiday or just take a weekend break away, there is something for everyone in South West England.
It is a very popular holiday destination where you can enjoy everything from spectacular coasts to calming countryside, delicious cream teas to comforting Cornish Pasties, not to mention terrific Cheddar cheese made in the large Somerset village of Cheddar which matures in caves there.
Unesco World Heritage sites
The Jurassic Coast, the city of Bath, Stonehenge, Cornwall and West Devon Mining landscape are all Unesco World Heritage sites and as such are of huge interest to visitors to South West England.
Where are some of the most popular places to visit in South West England?
This is a really difficult question to answer as there is such an abundance of amazing places in South West England.
The Roman city of Bath is hugely popular with tourists, visitors and residents alike. You can watch a video of a short trip that I made to Bath, here on my youtube channel where I explore by boat and foot.
Other very popular places include (in no particular order) The Eden Project in Cornwall, Land’s End, St Ives, Cheddar Caves, Stonehenge, Glastonbury (the town and the festival), Bristol (and its hot air balloon fiesta) and the many beaches on the Jurassic Coast including Lyme Regis. South West Coast Path
I will write in more detail in another blog about the South West Coast Path which is England’s longest way marked long distance path. It is 630 miles long and starts in Minehead in Somerset and runs to Poole in Dorset.
