A Berrys Superfast Coach at London Hammersmith Bus Station

How to travel from London to the West Country – a super fast way!

Travel from London to the West Country can take several forms. You could drive, catch a train or catch a bus!

My preferred option to travel from London to the West Country is by bus!

The West Country is served well in Somerset and Wiltshire by Berrys Coaches, a Taunton based coach company who operate services to London and back from the South West daily.

How much does it cost to travel from London to the West Country?

The fares are very reasonably priced and the time tables allow a decent amount of time to explore the capital if you are going there from the West Country for the day. I paid £28 day return from Wellington to London (and back)

Courier Service and onboard refreshments

What I love about Berry’s coaches, aside from their very reasonable fares, is the courier service with refreshments served to your seat.

On a recent journey I was delighted to discover that they served West Country products on their menu, including Miles of Porlock tea and coffee.

I even got to enjoy porridge for breakfast as we cruised along the M4!  I have used them several times and they always had refreshments from a basket and hot drinks, but I feel that their catering has stepped up a notch in offering West Country products.

How long does it take to travel from London to Wellington?

The journey from Wellington, which is the first stop on the journey from the West Country and the last stop on the way back, was scheduled to take around 4 hours each way, but in reality it arrived in both destinations a little earlier than planned as we did not encounter any traffic holdups.

Are the coaches comfortable?

The coaches tend to be luxury double decker coaches with an onboard toilet.

They are really comfortable and the journey flies by, especially as there is on board wifi that can be used for browsing the web, social media and emails.  Its not possible to log on to YouTube or download videos.

Seats are allocated when you book online or by phone and you get a choice of standard, premium with a table and premium downstairs seats. The majority of the seats on the coaches are standard and are very comfortable with good leg room.

Where do Berrys Coaches depart from in London?

The Berrys Coaches departure point in London is at Hammersmith Bus Station which is part of the Hammersmith Broadway shopping centre.

It is easily accessible by tube. The District and Picadilly lines are just down the escalator from where the bus drops you off and departs from (Bay D) and the Hammersmith and City line tube station is located across the A219 ( go downstairs in the shopping centre and out of the exit and this station will be clearly visible).
